Winter

Vallandry is a pretty village situated at 1600m, at the centre of the Paradiski area with the Vanoise Express cable car linking up Les Arcs and La Plagne into one vast playground. It is also on the edge of the beautiful Vanoise National Park, a huge protected wildlife area great for walking at any time of year.

The winter season is full-on activity; the whole village buzzes with life; the bars, restaurants and shops are open until late. Skiing and Boarding on and off-piste, and cross-country, are the obvious activities. There are some beautiful walks, dog-sledging and ice-climbing. Vallandry is one of the major paragliding areas and many visitors chose to take their first tandem flight over the snow.

Ski

In the Vallandry area, there are wide slopes that extend between the trees and great possibilities of mixing on and off-piste skiing by cutting through the woods. Take a look at this drone video.

It links seamlessly into the Les Arcs area, where there is a big ski-park. You also take the Bubble here up to 2400m. From there it is possible to take further lifts up to the top of the Aiguille Rouge. Another day take the Vanoise Express over the valley to explore La Plagne.

Board

The large number of red runs make it an excellent place to learn to board.

For the fearless there is the possibility of going from the top of the Aiguille Rouge right down into Villaroger - 7 km non-stop with an amazing vertical drop.

Off-piste possibilities are limitless.

Cross Country

Overall there are 153km of Nordic ski trails. There is is a short route over at Les Arcs and 43km of tracks in the Vanoise National Park, which is a very short drive from the chalet. It is the most beautiful winter wonderland and one of the biggest cross-country ski areas in the area.

Walking

The Vanoise National Park takes your breath away.
You can happily walk for hours in this Winter Wonderland.

It is also possible to hire raquettes to go snow shoe walking over to Les Arcs.

You may need to bring/buy some rubber crampons if there is a lot of snow.
